Archil Pochkhua

                    Archil Pochkhua

Born in Georgia (ex-URSS) in 1956, he began his music studies at the Tbilisi Music School. He rewarded with the best marks in the young contest of his country, which allowed him to enter in the Music Academy of Moscow where he finished his studies. He worked two years after as assistant in this academy.

In 1989, he integrated the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and in 1993, he got a place as viola and teacher in the Real Orquesta Sinfónica of Seville, where he stayed until 2014.

Since his arrival in Spain, he continued his passion to be conductor, giving the possibility to many musicians from Andalusia to study in this discipline. He was the founder of three orchestras and co-founder of the municipal school of Punta Umbria.

In 1998, he created the Chamber Orchestra “Maestro Álvarez Beigbeder” of Jerez, where he was the conductor for more than twelve years.

In 2012, he founded, in Sevilla this one, a new orchestra “Sinfonietta” of San Francisco of Paula college.

In 2015, he left the college and created the Chamber Orchestra of Sevilla, orchestra which always conducts and with around 25 musicians aged 17 to 22.

The variety of the repertory is indefinite because he looks for abandoned scores or compositors fade from memory. A large part of his reconstruction and investigation work focuses on the great French compositor Chevalier de Saint-George. His work allowed him to be invited on several occasions by the French organisation Chevalier de Saint-George in Paris and for which he received the first order of this structure in 2009.

Since 2006, he participated in various festivals organised by Eurochestries International, including a tour in 2018.
