Native of Mont-Joli, Amélie Bois started clarinet in high school. She then studied at Laval University with Marcel Rousseau, teacher emeritus, and obtained a bachelor's degree in interpretation. Under the direction of Francis Dubé, she subsequently completed a master's degree in Instrumental Didactics.
Since then, she has taught the clarinet in many schools in the Quebec City region, in the Musical Culture program at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, at Camp musical Saint-Alexandre as well as at the Music Department of Cégep de Trois-Rivières. Since August 2012, she has held the position of clarinet teacher in the Music Department of Cégep de Sainte-Foy. In August 2015, she added a string to her bow by becoming conductor of the Wind Orchestra of the same CEGEP, a function that led her to Brazil in the summer of 2017 to participate in the Eurochestries Festival, an international festival of youth orchestras. She also joined the Harmonie Élite des Navigateurs team in September 2015 as a clarinet specialist.
Amélie is currently completing a master's degree in wind orchestra conducting with René Joly and is particularly interested in ensemble music pedagogy. She holds the position of 2e clarinet with the Orchestra Symphonique de l'Estuaire since 2003. Regular musician in the Quebec Wind and Percussion Ensemble since 2006, she also sat on the Ensemble's board of directors for 3 years.
