               Javier Claudio Portales


Born in Malaga (1966), he studied violin in Spain, Luxembourg, and Austria, obtaining the highest qualifications, the premio Extraordiario Fin de Carrera and the II Gran Premio Internacional de España de Violín.


He studied with renowned violinists like Igor Ozim, Michael Grube, Bretislav Novotny, T. Adamopoulos, Anna Baget and Agustín León Ara, among others. He has been a member of various symphony and chamber orchestras as tutti, concertmaster and soloist, as well as various chamber ensembles with concerts in Spain, Algeria, France, Italy, Denmark, Austria, and Germany. As a conductor, he has conducted in Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. As a pedagogue, he has been a speaker at international congresses, conferences and classes for students and teachers all over Spain.


He is the author of several articles and about twenty booklets and books on learning the violin. He was appointed by the Junta de Andalucía as writer-rapporteur of the Andalusian Education Law.


He has been a member of the jury of different contests such as: Angeles Reina de Juventudes Musicales, Muestra de Jóvenes Intérpretes del Ayto de Málaga or Muñoz Molleda (Cádiz) and Florence International Choir & Orchestra Festival.


He has recorded an album with the Rosa Faria Chamber Orchestra, which he has created and conducted for ten years with concerts in Spain and abroad, and four albums as conductor of the Orchestral Project Promúsica of Málaga, which he founded in 2009 and is sponsored by the Fundación Musical de Málaga, which he has already won several international prizes and given more than 250 concerts.


He currently holds a doctorate from the Department of Didactics of the Faculty of Education Sciences in Malaga, an associate professor at the UMA (University of Málaga), professor of violin at the Higher Music Conservatory of Málaga, artistic director of the Promúsica Project and a musical collaborator on the Ser radio station.


In 2016, he was awarded the Honour Insignia of the Fundación Musical of Málaga and in 2018 he received the Special Prize of the Florence International Choir & Orchestra Festival as conductor.
