Igor Dohovic was born in 1973 in Presov. He studied the violin in the conservatoire of Kosice and got the degree of the Academy of music of Lviv in Ukraine. Two years after, he got the degree with honour in violin, opera, and orchestra conducting.
In 2002, he got the superior studies degree in the same school. In 2003, he was laureate of the Xth international competition of young orchestra conducting in Spoleto, in Italy. For 19 years, he directed no less than 1500 symphonic concerts and 2200 operas, ballets, and musical performances/shows.
Since 1997, he is the conductor of the Opera state of Košice (Slovakia). Since 1998, he is the general artistic director of the string orchestra Musica Iuvenalis. Since 2013, he is the assistant conductor of the great theatre opera of Tianjin, (dir. Muhai Tang, China).
He is regularly invited as conductor by the national symphonic orchestra of Kosice, the Phlharmoniques of Bydgoszcz and of Lublin, the Opera of Poznan, the lyric theatre of Spoleto, the chamber opera and the philharmonic orchestra of Cracovie, the chamber orchestra of Miskolc and Ostrava. Pedagogue, he is tutor during intership and member of jury during the international conductor contest. As invited conductor, he performed in many countries, in Europe and in Asia.
