Voluptuous, dense and pulsating, Etienne Kippelen's music seduces faithful performers, like accordionist Elodie Soulard, conductor Gabriel Bourgoin, soprano Mayako Ito or pianist Alexandra Lescure. Composer of around forty scores for voice, chamber ensemble or symphony orchestra, he has studied under the direction of personalities as varied as Régis Campo, Allain Gaussin and Philippe Hurel. Winner of several foundations (Laurent-Vibert in 2003, Zaleski in 2009) and three international competitions (Dutilleux in 2012, Jolivet in 2017, Free-wheeling music in 2018), this young creator expands his catalog through encounters and affinities. and collaborations with many festivals and ensembles: Eurochestries, Festival du Haut-Bugey, Moments musicaux de Chagny, Printemps Musical de Vaucluse, Summer Festival of the Château de Lourmarin, Radio France Festival in Montpellier, Ensemble Court-Circuit, Soloists of the Royal Scottish Orchestra, Orchester symphonique de Tours, Pôle Supérieur d'Aix-en-Provence, Maison de la culture 93, Ensemble Êkheia, etc.
Also a musicologist, Etienne Kippelen holds three prizes at the CNSMD in Paris (analysis, aesthetics, and harmony), a composition prize at the CNSMD in Lyon, the music aggregation and a doctorate. Author of several books on contemporary music and the song, he works as a lecturer at the University of Aix-Marseille and teaches composition and musical culture at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory.
Musical assistant for the television and radio programs of Jean-François Zygel, Etienne in turn puts his talent as a speaker at the service of the public during discovery concerts, where he presents the works performed in order to offer music lovers a different listening to the music. Wishing to contribute to the dissemination of the musical repertoires that he cherishes, he creates and co-directs the Nocturnes Sainte-Victoire festival, while showing himself particularly attached to the dissemination of contemporary creation of all aesthetics.
