Arthur Barbosa is a violinist and member of Ospa (Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra - Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil) since 1998.
As a violinist, he has extensive orchestral experience, including as first violin, having played in more than ten professional orchestras such as Sinfônica da Paraíba, Municipal de Campinas, Filarmônica de Santiago (Chile) and San Luis (Argentina). As a composer, his works have been performed in over twenty countries, including the United States, Argentina, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Hungary.
His catalogue of compositions contains more than one hundred works, including symphonies, concertos, overtures, trios and quartets, operettas, etc.... He has won several prizes in Brazil as a composer, including the "Açoreanos" prize twice.
He currently works as a guest conductor with orchestras in Brazil, the United States and Europe. Since February 2012, he has been the artistic director and conductor of the Eleazar de Carvalho Orchestra in Fortaleza, Brazil. Since 2014, he is associate guest conductor of the "Terra Symphony" in New York (USA) and conductor of the Ospa Jovem Orchestra in Porto Alegre (Brazil). Since 2015, he is one of the three members representing the music industry in the National Commission for the Promotion of Culture (agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture).
