The cities of Khanty-Mansiysk and Moscow held a Eurochestries festival in 2005 and 2007.
The Eurochestries Festival in Russia was born in 2005 on the initiative of Natalia Riabova, director of Rosa Vetrov, and Viktor Khudoley, director of the Khanty-Mansyisk Committee of the Russian Music Academy. Like the other Festivals in our network, these meetings of young instrumentalists from all over Europe met for ten days, between Moscow and Khanty-Mansyisk, both to play their own repertoire during the fortnight of concerts organized on the territory but also to work together on a common work intended to be played during the closing concert by this “great European orchestra” created for the occasion. Each year, this Festival welcomed a little more than 250 musicians to provide around fifteen concerts in the autonomous territory of Khanty-Mansyisk as well as in Moscow for the big closing concert.
The reception was in Khanty-Mansyisk as well as in Moscow on the occasion of the major concerts given in the capital. The musicians got acquainted with the disproportionate distances that Russia knows, traveling by bus and by plane. These days of meeting young instrumentalists were also an opportunity to visit and discover the little-known region of Khanty-Mansyisk.
