Michel Delage


After studying the violin for ten years at the CNRMD in Poitiers, Michel Delage completed his musical studies in trumpet and obtained his diplomas at the CNRMD in Tours then at the CNSM in Paris.


He is also a laureate of the CNSM de Lyon.


For ten years he taught the trumpet in various conservatories: Poitiers, Niort, Cognac, Rochefort ...

From 1992 to 2020, he was director of the Rochefort music and dance conservatory, then of the Rochefort Océan agglomeration community.


From the age of ten, he quickly developed a passion for musical writing and more particularly in the field of orchestration.


From then on, he never stopped writing, composing and orchestrating in very diverse musical styles.


He was very quickly attracted, seduced and inspired by the refinement and the sensitivity of the French composers of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century in the field of "classical" music and fascinated by the great American orchestrators in the field of jazz. .


Michel Delage has participated in numerous creations of shows as a musician and / or composer-orchestrator, in very large registers.


Currently, to his credit, he has nearly 500 compositions and 2,500 orchestrations:

Works for symphony orchestra, harmony orchestra, string orchestra, choirs, chamber music (woodwind / wind / brass / strings, mixed), stage music, ballet music, music for large jazz orchestras, operas, musicals , music and songs for children, film music (documentaries and fictions), DVDs, musical illustrations (audio books), audio visual and radio advertisements….


He has worked for many recording studios) as a performer and / or composer-orchestrator.


He has taken part in the recording of 90 albums and collaborated with the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France, Marie Christine Barrault, the Pas-de-Calais Symphony Orchestra, The Sortilège Symphony Orchestra, Anémone, Ludivine Sagnier, Pierre Arditi, Sanseverino, Marcel Azzola, Marc Fosset, Didier Lockwood, Nicole Croisille…


He got :

He took part in the recordings of several television films (France 2, Arte, France 3).


He has worked on many musical illustrations for audio books for several publishers: Gallimard as part of the “listen to read” collection, Frémeaux (Les misheurs de Sophie), Chorion (Oui-oui), Xilam Animation (Toupou ), Alphanim (Les Sauvenature), Hachette (Mickey and Cars - 365 evening stories), Casterman (Martine), P'tit Glénat (Comment ratatiner) ...


He has produced several collections of songs for children with a large orchestra, in particular for the Flammarion / Père Castor editions: 2 collections of songs from France for children illustrated by Hervé Le Goff (volumes 2 and 3), participated in collections of vocal repertoire for kindergartens and primary schools of different academies.

He writes, directs and plays (trumpet) in the “Michel Delage Jazz Tentet” (Poitou Charentes), a group with which he has accompanied (among others): Didier Lockwood, Marcel Azzola & Marc Fosset, Nicole Croisille, Patrick Artéro, Julie Morillon , Jean-Marc Desbois, Arnaud Guille


He also writes and plays (sousaphone) in “La Clique sur Mer”, a small musical-theatrical orphéon based in Poitiers (numerous tours and creations in France and in Europe) as well as in the “Rue Latino” quartet.


He is currently working nationally for multiple commissions in very eclectic musical fields (creations of shows, orchestrations, recordings, publishers, etc.)
