Next festival : 2019
The Festival of Eurochestries in Deux-Sèvres was born in 2005 on initiative of the OVNI (Orchestre à Vent of Niort). Following the example of other Festivals of our network, young instrumentalists stemming from whole Europe meet during a week in Poitou, in Niort, both to play their own repertoire during about fifteen concerts organized on the territory and also to prepare together a common work intended to be played during the closing concert of the Festival by this "European full orchestra" constituted for the event.
Symphony orchestras, string orchestras, choirs and chamber music ensembles can participate.
This Festival welcomes every year about 120 musicians to insure about fifteen concerts on 12 municipalities of the territory for the biggest pleasure of the numerous spectators who come every year. The reception is made within about sixty host families. This deliberate choice of the organizers allows the musicians to discover a "French lifestyle" but also arouses the curiosity of the local families who want to meet the culture and values of their special host. Rehearsals and concerts apart, the organizers also let to the Festival-goers the opportunity to discover the city of Niort as well as the main cities of the region (Poitiers, La Rochelle), the Park of the Futuroscope, without forgetting the treasures of the big natural reserve of the Swamp from Poitou, the Green Venice.
This Festival is realized with the valuable support of our partners:
